Vik is a researcher and practitioner of conceptual modeling, and applied artificial intelligence. His scholarship and application are focused on the nexus of Science, Management, and Technology. Vik is a PhD Candidate in the Faculty of Information (iSchool) at the University of Toronto. He earned an undergraduate degree in business administration from Villanova University, a master's degree in information technology from Harvard University, where he received the Dean’s List Academic Achievement Award, and a master's degree in business administration with distinction from the University of London.
Dr. Imogen Coe
Dr. Imogen R. Coe is the founding dean of the Faculty of Science at Ryerson University (2012-2018) and a professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biology. Dr. Coe is internationally recognized as a Canadian thought leader in the area of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). She has also given a TEDx talk on gender equity in science and is much in demand by academia, industry and government as a speaker and panelist. In fall 2016 she was recognized by WXN as one of Canada's Top 100 Women, in the Trail Blazer category for her advocacy work promoting equity in STEM and in 2017, she was one of the “Canada150 Women” in the best-selling publication of the same name.
Alain Chesnais and Lauren Bhagwandat
Alain has over 35 years of professional software development experience with more than 30 spent in management roles. He is a recognized leader in computer science and software engineering, having served as the president of ACM from 2010 to 2012 and formerly as the president of ACM SIGGRAPH from 2002 to 2005. Alain was also the director of engineering at Alias|wavefront, leading the team that developed the technical academy award winning Maya software package. Maya quickly became the number one selling package for 3D animation in the entertainment market and has maintained that position for 20 years.
Lauren D. Bhagwandat is a fourth-year Bachelor of Computing Honours student at Queen’s University, specializing in Computing and Mathematics. Growing up with a passion and curiosity for science, art, math, and technology, she has always sought creative approaches to understanding the world around her. Lauren has worked as a Graphic Designer for CMT Communications producing company logos for clients. Her ﬁrst industry job was as a Pipeline Technical Director intern at SpinVFX where she developed software to aid in the production pipeline for blockbuster ﬁlms and TV. This summer, she worked for SideFx Software in Toronto as a Python Developer intern, primarily helping to develop character rigging tools in the company’s ﬂagship industry-standard 3D animation software, Houdini.
Cecil Cheng is the Executive Director at CIBC Capital Markets. His alma mater is the University of Waterloo, from which he went on to specialize in Quantitive Trading, working at LaBrance Structured Products, Etrade Financial, and Quant Trading, working in the latter as Vice-President. Mr. Cheng then went on to CIBC, first working for CIBC World Markets for six years, before arriving at his current position at CIBC Capital Markets, working with institutional equity trading. His interests lie in fin tech, game theory, and stochastic optimization
